Standard English

I'm speaking Standard English,
correct me if I'm wrong:
my nouns and verbs don't disagree,
and know where they belong.

I'm speaking Standard English,
you read me right, all right:
my sentences are fairly phrased
and perfectly polite.

I'm speaking Standard English,

my accent is on proper speech,
for I'm from nowhere, Sir.

I'm speaking Standard English,
I mind my ps and qs,
would dot my ts and cross my is
were I to read the news.

I'm speaking Standard English,
please do inspect my case;
my mood is passive, if preferred,
my vowels know their place.

I'm speaking Standard English,
my grammar is well-schooled:
I speak and write on equal lines -
they're narrow, straight, and ruled.
