I bought my love a marmoset;
She gave me a giraffe.
I ordered her a minaret;
She sent the Cenotaph.
I wrapped an early bioscope;
She offered Cinerama.
At Christmas, I received the Pope;
She gained the Dalai Lama.
I lashed out on a Marc Chagall;
Her spree was three by Dali.
I bargained for the Taj Mahal;
She parcelled all of Bali.
This year I gave her broken meat;
Her present was a pea,
And now we know how love is sweet,
I gave her her, she me.
